RSPCA Medway West Branch

With the recession hitting hard many animal charities have started to struggle and RSPCA Medway West Branch is one of them. With more and more animals coming into the centre and the price of food and vet bills rising  we need help now more than ever before. We are not begging for money but if you have any of the following items that you can donate, it would be appreciated and would also help our branch save money.

Any food is always appreciated, with the price of animal food going up, any food items donated helps the Branch to save money, even if its open, as long as it is still in date we can use it. Please consider us before throwing it away.

Rodent Food (Rat, Mouse, Gerbil, Hamster, Chinchilla,Degu)

We also use a lot of vegetables and salad items such as greens, carrots, cucumbers, celery, lettuce, curly kale, peppers, corn  etc, our guinea pigs are given fresh vegetables daily and the rabbits have veg as a treat. Our green grocery bills can be as much as £20+ a week when we have a lot of animals in.

 Dandelion Leaves: A great favourite treat for all are residents from the rabbits and guinea pigs to the smaller rodents

Sunflower Seeds, Peanuts, Dried Fruit - Great treats for our rodents.

These are the basic essential items we use for the animals on a daily bases. 

Any donations are gratefully received, everything helps.

Hay - We use upto a bale per week

Straw - We can use 1-3 bales a week

Wood Shavings - We can use 1-3 bales a week

Cat Litter - 2-4 sacks per week

Animal friendly disinfectant

Black Bin Liners

Also Dust pans and brushes, brooms and wallpaper scrappers 

We are always looking for hutches, cages and other animals equipment . If we cannot use them at the centre we sell them second hand  to help us raise money for the Branch.

Logs and Branches

Must be either Apple, Pear, Plum or Willow as this is safe wood for rodents to chew. We use large branches and logs for are rabbits and guinea pigs to climb, chew and play with and smaller branches in our rodent cages as items for them to run along and chew. We are always in need of logs and branches as these are a particular favourite of all the animals in our care and soon get nibbled and demolished. We do not get them in often but a great favourite for the animals.

Cardboard Boxes

A Favourite of the rabbits, we need strong cardboard boxes to give to the rabbits. We cut a hole in the side of the box for the rabbits to be able to go in them and hide, as well as chew and climb on them.
